Not all hockey jerseys are created equally... there are Authentic jerseys, Replica jerseys, and Vintage jerseys. There are also several brands around, depending on the style and year you are looking at, including: Adidas, Reebok, CCM, and Fanatics. Not everyone can tell the difference, so we've sorted them here to make it easier for you.
- Authentic jerseys are like the ones worn by current NHL teams. There are two types of Authentic jerseys: on-ice, often only available to the players; and pro versions, which are available to everyone online and in retail stores. Adidas jerseys are the official authentic jerseys for the 2017-18 season, and will remain so until 2025. Last year the authentic jerseys were made by Reebok and were called Edge jerseys.
- Replica jerseys are similar to the jerseys worn by players, but don't have some of the features of authentic jerseys, like fight straps, more detailed branding, etc. The replica jerseys from 2017 on are made by Fanatics; any jersey previoous to that would be made by Reebok and were called Premier jerseys.
- Vintage jerseys are pretty much anything that was worn by a retired player, and are usually on a CCM jersey: Gretzky, Howe, Modano, Hull, Yzerman, etc.
