Destined for the collegiate ranks after starring for the BCHL’s Salmon Arm Silverbacks, Nash was chosen in the first round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft (27th overall) but the Edmonton Oilers. A decorated talent over three seasons at Cornell University, he was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes on June 25, 2010 and started his pro career with their AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers, soon after. Making his NHL debut with Carolina during the 2011-12 campaign, he was up for five games and recorded a single assist while putting on a jersey with the number 20. He got a longer trial the next season and finally arrived as an everyday part of the roster. From 2013-14 to 2015-16, he had at least 22 points per season before signing with the Boston Bruins as a free agent on July 1, 2016. He struggled a bit offensively during 2016-17, but then staged an excellent comeback the next year and closed out his time with Boston by notching personal bests with 15 goals and 41 points. Inking a contract with Columbus on July 1, 2018, his ice time dropped dramatically in 2018-19 and his totals took a dive as well.
